Effect of Deep Cryogenic Treatment on the Artificial Ageing Behavior of SiCp–AA2009 Composite

The effect of deep cryogenic treatment (DCT) on the artificial ageing kinetics a SiC particles reinforced aluminum alloy composite (SiCp-Al) is experimentally studied in this paper. evolutions both macro-properties (i.e., yield strength and ultimate tensile strength) microstructures (precipitates) have been investigated by set hardness tests, microstructural observations (scanning electron microscope, SEM transmission TEM) for SiCp-Al material with conventional heat (solution + quenching ageing, CHT) or DCT ageing). results show that SiCp could significantly accelerate composites. Meanwhile, compared CHT conditions, can further improve (YS) (UTS) materials after ageing. induces generation more thinner ?? precipitates homogeneously distributed grains during corresponding conditions. A quantified analysis has performed based data, calculated support indication strengthening mainly contributed precipitation behavior.
